Finding Our Humanity
The Coronavirus has been a recent source of panic for the nation and the world. Unfortunately, this pandemic has played a major role in our recent display of ugliness. Our fear has given rise to our animalistic characteristics which reminds me of a book I read. This book is a riveting real life account of discovering humanity in the wake of power, fear and the need for self-preservation.
While guns and violence are a very different animalism from hoarding toilet paper and fighting over cases of water, it speaks to the very definition of “what it means to be human”.
How did this book contribute to my children’s book series?
A lot of my books explore the concept of accepting peoples differences. We all come from so many different walks of life, never knowing what goes on in someone’s home or in their minds. We are all struggling with something. Imagine being a child again during times like these. I use the mature reasoning of my own emotions, coupled with the inspiration of the children around me, to develop characters who speak to how our inner voices help us experience the world around us.
